Apostle John had the same insight when he wrote his gospel, where he quoted the last words of Jesus, ‘It is finished’ (Jn 19:30). Furthermore, upon sending His disciples, Jesus blew the breath of the Holy Spirit (Jn 20:22), just as He did at Creation, making man a living being again – the perfected Adam (Gen 2:7).
Therefore, the life that God intends for man must begin from the state of perfection – Sabbath-rest (Heb 4:11). Only through confirming this rest can man go about doing God’s work (‘working the garden of Eden’ (Gen 2:15).
What exactly was the work Adam did? God had done everything – planting the trees & causing streams to water the ground etc. There was nothing Adam needed to do in the garden. The only work expected of him was to obey and fellowship with God. Thus, by having a relationship with God, man can rule over all creation.
Today, we must make the church like the Garden of Eden, a place where God can coexist with men, people who can confirm the finished work of God, the Sabbath-rest, and fellowship with Him.
