In the end, he was barely saved, without his wife, living a miserable life. Though righteous in not participating in the perversion of Sodom, he was nevertheless immersed into the comfortable & โsecureโ lifestyle of the city, i.e. โeating & drinking, buying & selling, planting & buildingโ (Lk 17:28).
Why did God not reveal His plan of destruction to Lot, but to Abraham? Because Abraham walked with God righteously & stood before the Lord (Gen 18:22). Thus he was able to participate in Godโs plan. He was not simply saved from destruction, but came to the position of interceding for the righteous of the city.
โAs in the days of Lot, so it will be in the days of the coming of the Son of Manโ (Lk 17:30). In the last days, while the world is becoming like Sodom, we must not become like Lot. We must eradicate the scent of the world that is still in us, and walk with God. Then God will surely reveal His plan to us, that we will not be caught unprepared when the time of judgement comes.
